Laurel and I are partnering with local Wake Arts Collective missionaries, Doc and Anne Harrill, and Ryan and Jennifer Lott on a local missions venture to create a community where faith is expressed artistically through creative collaborations and relationally through interactive events. We invite the public to express with us, and we celebrate the creativity we see in people as a reflection of God’s character.
Once a month, we transform a public venue (Studio You on Lee in Cleveland Heights) into Express-O Café where locals can take part in artistic projects that are both fun and thought provoking. Local musicians are invited to play in an improvisational band. Overall, it is a great opportunity for people to meet people, to share our faith, for artists to grow in their craft, and for others to be inspired to use their God given creativity.
To answer your other question, these are not age specific events, although students (both high school and college) are at the center of our missional target. If you’d like to send people over to attend or to get involved in some way, feel free to do so. We are ultimately building a community for discipleship and Expresso is our beachhead for building relationships for sharing our faith. Let me know if you’d personally like to be a partner with us or help out in some way.
If you can make it out to the next one, it will be on June 9th 7-10PM at Studio You in Cleveland Heights. If you can’t make it out, you can check out a video (Click the Black Box) or visit our MySpace. More info to follow at our new website
